Ingvar Kamprad was a Swedish businessman and entrepreneur who founded the multinational home furnishings company, IKEA. He was born in 1926 in Småland, Sweden, and grew up on a farm.

Kamprad started his business career at the age of 17, selling matches, Christmas tree decorations, and other small items door-to-door. In 1943, he founded IKEA, which initially focused on selling affordable furniture and household goods.

Over time, IKEA grew and expanded, and it became known for its innovative designs and low prices. Kamprad introduced a number of key features that helped to differentiate IKEA, such as flat-pack packaging, which allowed customers to assemble the furniture themselves, and the use of particleboard and other low-cost materials in its products.
